We are honored to introduce you to the legacy of John Montanye Locola, a uniquely compassionate and sensitive man whose life was marked by his trials and triumphs. John was blessed with many gifts and talents, including a deep love for football, which he played passionately during the years he spent in high school. Despite his desire to sow the seeds of his talents after graduation, John lacked the necessary training to fully realize his potential. His family and friends fondly remember him for his caring, helpful, loving, and generous nature, as well as his unforgettable sense of humor.
In honor of John's passion for helping others, we are proud to announce the establishment of the Locola Academy, a new and exciting initiative by 12th Rock Ministries in Middletown, NY. This academy will continue John's legacy by providing support and training to athletes who, like John, need guidance to prepare for life beyond sports. Knowing that John's memory will continue to inspire and nurture future generations brings great peace and comfort to his family.
12th Rock Ministries serves over 2,000 athletes annually, catering to individuals of all ages, abilities, and aspirations. While many of our athletes recognize the importance of academics, some, like John, need additional support to prepare for life after sports. Our mantra, "Bringing the REST OF THEIR LIFE VALUE to the youth sports experience," drives us to care for every athlete, both on and off the field.
To address this need, we are launching the Locola Academy in early summer 2025, starting with our first class, "Beyond the Game." This program will provide essential support and tools for athletes, particularly those who have been marginalized or face personal barriers. Additional classes will be offered throughout the summer and into the fall.
We invite you to join us in honoring John's memory by supporting the Locola Academy. Your generous contributions will help us provide the necessary training and resources to empower our athletes, ensuring they are prepared for a successful future beyond the playing field.
Thank you for your support and for helping us continue John's legacy of compassion and generosity.

Athletes often excel in their sport but struggle with the transition into public life, professional environments, and leadership roles. "Beyond the Game" is a ten-module curriculum designed to equip athletes with the tools to navigate life beyond sports with grace, emotional intelligence, social awareness, and ethical leadership.
Using the 5E Instructional Model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) and Differentiated Instruction strategies, this course provides a dynamic, interactive, and faith-infused approach to learning.
